We are pleased to announce that we have called Dr. Carol Benton as our new organist/choirmaster, she will begin the last Sunday of June.
Carol Benton holds the Bachelor of Music Education (BME) and Master of Music (MM) in piano performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in music education from Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University. She serves as professor of music education (teacher preparation) at Armstrong State University. Carol has held several part-time church music positions in Virginia and Savannah. Most recently, Carol served as organist/pianist/choir director for St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill, GA. Carol is married to Rev. Charles (“Charlie”) Benton, and they have four adult children and seven grandchildren. Carol and Charlie live in Coffee Bluff and are members of First Baptist Church, Savannah.
Carol invites anyone interested in singing in the St. George's choir to come to choir practices on Wednesday evenings at 7:15.
